Rethinking My Plugin Stash

No offense to the developers behind these plugins. Great work. In fact, if asked, I’d recommend all of these plugins… I’m just not going to be using them anymore because they don’t meet my current needs.

I think I’m going to have to create one plugin to rule them all (well, almost all of them). It’d essentially take some of the functionality added by the following plugins and streamline my setup so that all of the changes happen in one place and my code isn’t violated.

  • WP Greet Box: Loads an extra CSS file. I don’t really need the functionality this plugin provides, anyway… I just got plugin happy one day and thought it’d be cool to have. If I really feel like I need it, I can do something similar with a small amount of work.
  • All in One SEO Pack: I feel like I can handle a lot of this on my own, really. Good plugin if you don’t feel like putting in the work, though.
  • Ultimate Google Analytics: see my previous post about this.
  • Twitter Tools: Not so hot on integrating Twitter here outside of automagically tweeting when a post has been published. Results thus far have been less than agreeable. Adds a JavaScript file, too.
  • Contact Form 7: This is a big offender. Makes a redundant call to load another version of jQuery, also loads the jQuery Form Plugin, and adds on another JavaScript file for the validation and other miscellany. I’ll have to figure out how to do post a form within a WordPress page myself.
