Since imple­ment­ing the changes to my Google Ana­lyt­ics instal­la­tion as detailed in my last post, I’ve noticed a sharp decrease in page views: none recorded. I put the default code back on the page, but am curi­ous as to why it’s not work­ing when I wid­getize it (Google Ads worked fine when I used my wid­get method, as did some other wid­gets that I tried).

Over the next few days, I’ll be exper­i­ment­ing with Google Ana­lyt­ics to fig­ure out how to get it to work within my new… umm… frame­work? I think it’s a prob­lem of vari­able scope, but I’m not exactly sure (ie I think I need to make that pageTracker vari­able glob­ally avail­able). I’ll also be adding more spe­cific track­ing to the site in order to take full advan­tage of a few things, which will require mod­i­fy­ing the Ana­lyt­ics wid­get — and pos­si­bly the entire frame­work — a bit. I’ll keep you guys posted (no pun intended).
